Onions remain the butt of jokes nationwide, the good news is that the onion prices have begun declining since Tuesday. The price sharply dropped in Coimbatore on Tuesday, as the wholesale price of onions was Rs 80 to Rs.90 per Kg, as against Rs.150 per Kg just four days back. In Wayanad, the price dropped to Rs.140 a kilo from Rs.155 on Monday. Onion prices fell by Rs 5-15 per kg in the wholesale market till Monday. As demand for the bulb has dropped and supplies are likely to increase further prices may come down further, said an APMC official.
