Chhattisgarh agrees to adopt Alternative Development Model!

Chattisgarh govt has signed a strategic partnership with India Center Foundation (ICF). The partnership focuses on the inclusive, sustainable, and progressive development of the state, which is aligned with the principles of the Alternative Development Model (ADM). ADM is a socio-economic development framework that works on the principles of Energy-efficiency, Environmental Responsibility, and Sustainability (EES).

This ground-breaking model will upgrade the development operating system that supports the non-exploitation of people, resources, and environment at its core to create equitable opportunities through new types of economic entities.

Principal Secretary- Industry Shri Manoj Pingua and the Managing Trustee of ICF Shri. Sankalp Shukla signed the MoSA in the presence of state CM Bhupesh Bhagel and Founding Chairman of ICF Shri. Vibhav Kant Upadhyay. By signing the MoSA, Chattisgarh has now agreed to be the model state for AD compliant initiatives that will focus on education, skill development, innovative digital solutions, industrial development, development of agriculture corridor, urban & rural development, Buddhist Tourism infrastructure, and ensuring the global presence of Chhattisgarh.

Japan, a key partner of ADM, is committed to India's development through the India-Japan Global Partnership (IJGP). ICF will work with the State of Chhattisgarh to integrate the state into the IJGP framework to build larger participation of Japan and other global partners in the development process of the state. The immediate outcomes expected from this partnership are Japanese language skill centers in the state, opportunities for skilled individuals to work in Japan and acquire crucial experiences, enhanced digital education ecosystem for schools and students, development of Buddhist sites, and beginning of agriculture corridor.

ICF chairman and proponent of ADM, Shri Vibhav Kant Upadhyay addressed the occasion and said that this alliance will pave the way for Chhattisgarh to adopt a new development model leading to empowerment and a vibrant economy. He said that the ADM is the future and Chhattisgarh will be the model state to adopt and implement this progressive way of development. The ICF delegation of 17 global leaders was welcomed by Hon. Cabinet Minister Amarjeet Bhagat. The minister remarked that this partnership will set an example of an empowerment-based governance model in the world.

How civil society, opposition & students responded to the CAA

Amidst growing uproar over the Citizenship Amendment Act across the country, the police on Saturday, arrested the Bhim army chief Chandrashekhar Azad, outside the Jama Masjid in Delhi. Though Azad was denied a permission to protest, he was spotted in a huge crowd which gathered in front of Jama Masjid after the Friday prayers. During the protest the dalit leader was seen holding the photograph of B R Ambedkar. Slogans of ‘Jai Bhim’ rang out from the steps of Jama Masjid. Recent crackdown by police officers on peaceful protesters is uncalled for in a healthy democracy. Earlier to this several protests and the subsequent arrest of the protesters took place in the National Capital region. Days have passed, however, the anger against the contentious law doesn’t seem to calm down. JNU Violence: Who’s The Real Culprit?

There was a piece of disturbing news that came from JNU in Delhi. Masked men and women who were armed with sticks and stones, they beat students and teachers and vandalized property at the university. The mob also attacked a team of doctors and nurses that went to JNU to give first-aid to students and broke the windows of their ambulance. The attack has left 34 people injured. The campus had been tense for a few months as one section of students had been protesting against the sharp increase in hostel fees by the university authorities. Even if somebody disagrees with the ideology of JNU students or any other university, violence is not a solution. There should be no place for violence in a democratic and civilized society. NPR row: Did Arundhati Roy make an irresponsible statement?

After protests over CAA, NRC continue to make news headlines, this time it’s a fresh row over National Population Register (NPR) and what has highlighted this issue even more is the recent statement made by Arundhati Roy over NPR. Arundhati Roy is a well-known writer, Booker Prize winner and an activist. In 2015, she had joined the league of writers and filmmakers who had returned their awards as a protest against the growing intolerance in the country. A case was filed against her, in 2010, for sedition for saying Kashmir was not an integral part of India.
